Cynyr eyed the snow leopard from where she stood, her mind racing. It will be very useful to have an ally who is Captain of the Royal Guard, if indeed he is on our side she realised. He will have free access to important information, and none of the King's minions will suspect a thing, so long as he acts normally. Truly, it was fate that brought all of us here today. Quinten's words confirmed that he was no spy, and would be willing to work with them. "You are pardoned. However, I feel the need to inform all of you that I am not here on 'king's business' of any kind; I am here of my own free will. And, despite my rank and what you're probably thinking because of it, I would like to keep things civil and consider you allies. It seems to be a stroke of fate that we are all gathered here with the same mindset, no?" The polar bear nodded her great white head wordlessly at this, in agreement with his last words, a rhetorical question.
The polar bear listened as the lynx replied to her retort, her eyes calm, her mouth curved into the ghost of a smile. Kaisa obviously was interested in being a part of the uprising agaist the tyrant, and Cynyr wondered, not for the first time, what had happened to make the feline harbour a personal grudge agaist the so-called King and all who followed him. Probably something that was personal and difficult for her to forget, something that called for vengeance. She knew, from personal experience, that such feelings, such desires to take revenge, could fester like an open wound if left unquenched long enough. Oh, yes, she knew that far too well. Her eyes darkened suddenly, and her jaw clenched in anger. Calm, she told herself. Be calm. There will be time for revenge once all this is organized. Gradually, her features smoothed out once more, and the wild fury faded from her brown eyes.
Cynyr looked around at the three other creatures. They were a pitifully small group, if she was honest, but that could, and hopefully would, be changed, in the days that followed. Doubtless there were many others in the North would would be willing to join such a rebellion as the one that seemed to be brewing here. When the male feline began to speak once again, she turned her attention back to him. "I can tell from what has been said that the wrongdoings committed by the beast who dares to call himself our King are endless. It seems each and every one of us has a dark tale to tell... which is all the more reason for me to continue with my...heh... 'official' betrayal and remain seated here among you." An almost smug smile appeared on the bear's snout as she listened to his words, thinking, Truly, he is not one of the Tyrant's lapdogs.
Cynyr remained silent as the Siberian Lynx spoke next, her tone brisk. "So, do you have a plan? We will need more than a handful, to my knowledge, but it seems we'd call the King's henchman down sooner than allies by broadcasting our cause." The large female, assuming the enquiry was addressed to both herself and the snow leopard, answered. "I, myself, do not have a plan; I suggest that it would be best, however, if we all collaborated to come up with one. That way, anything we come up with will be more foolproof that something concocted by one mind." She paused, narrowing her eyes for a moment, and continued, "But, if you will permit me to express an opinion, I think that if we are discreet, we can gather allies without arousing too much suspicion. There are ways to do this; if possible, we could speak in the language of the animal we are addressing rather than the common tongue of the North. That way, if any of the King's minions are listening in, they should not understand what is said." So saying, she lifted her head and gazed around at the three of them, hoping they were all able to speak the language of at least one other animal not of their own species. She herself, having traveled widely, had sufficient knowledge of the tongues of many other animals.
OOC;; Sorry for the long wait. Also, I sort of assumed that there's a "common" dialect which all the Northern creatures can speak and understand, and that that's how the four of them are communicating. I can go back and change that if necessary.
