Katinka

For anyone who wasn't born and raised in this cold, unforgiving land, they would probably think of it as a dead place where animals suffer. However, for many animals who actually lived and thrived in this desolate place, the land was actually bursting with life. Katinka had been in this cold land for as long as she could remember and she loved the place for what it was. A winter wonderland fill with adventure and magic just waiting to be explored.
The little Arctic Fox was jumping and playing around in the thick snow. It had been snowing for a few days and had become about as deep as Kat was tall. It meant it was easier to hunt and better to play in. The snow was soft but cold under her paws as she pounced on an unexpecting twig, discarded by the wind when its mother tree was attacked. Because Kat was so well camoflaged, when she stood still, all that could be seen was a little black nose, black outlines of her ears and a little black tip of her tail.
Ice blue eyes scanned the area as Kat sat on her haunches and cocked her head, wondering if there was any more animals that she could play with. After all, playing by ones self was fun for a little while, but the rule was more the merrier. However, the temperature had plummeted during the night, meaning that animals probably weren't going to come out until the temperature had risen a little.
Huffing, Kat bounced to her feet and began to gallop towards a single tree in the distance. The little fox was a bundle of never ending energy meaning that many creatures felt exhausted after a five minute conversation with the young vixen. Ears pricked and her pace quickening, Kat dropped her head down and flung her hind legs into the air in a little buck, much like she'd seen a Caribou do many years ago. However, unlike the Caribou, Kat found herself face first in the snow, the only thing that could be seen was her big bushy tail was the black tip wiggling in the air like a flag.
