I sure do!
I say these things out of love, because I am super freaking excited about this site and I want it to prosper and grow so I can have lots of people to RP with.
So, stuff I think would be good:
-Having more mods or people who can accept new characters. That way the strain isn't all on one or two folks to get through applications, and the site can keep moving even if they're away for a few days. I've seen staffs of 5-6 active members as pretty effective on other sites, provided people play nice.
-Cleaner, simpler rules. I got through them, and there are many things I agree with (like writing full, literate, thoughtful posts), but I think it probably turns more potential members away than you'd like. I mean, yes, we want to turn away people who are going to write like this:
"Sarah the wolf was really pretty. she smiled at the brute with her shiny orbs and tiled her auds at him waving her pillars & waving her plume, 'will u b my mate?' she said"
But there are plenty of more advanced role players out there who just wouldn't want to slog through that much wordage. Many of the ideas there could be copy-edited to be expressed in one sentence instead of a paragraph, and some, perhaps, could be shifted into a separate document on "suggested role playing standards," especially the more subjective things (like the quality of a post). To keep MY long-winding rambling short, keep the rules the mandatory rules (at least 120 words, no graphic material, etc.), and move the other things.
(Also, it's more convenient for existing members. I keep having to re-read them to find answers to questions as they come up, and it's hard to scan through that much text.)
-Fixing the Chrome bug. When I first came here, I nearly moved right on because I was viewing the site in Chrome, and none of the forum banners show up. It just looks like this is a blank site with a nice title and layout. I started clicking around because I was curious and realized there WERE territories and forums, and that if I loaded it in Firefox I could see them.
-Keeping the bio creation password in the rules, but making it required to include in your bio, not as a password to the whole board. It was sort of frustrating at first to have to keep looking up and re-entering the password, and it also blocks people who might just want to see who's creating what.
-What's up with mates and mating? (Aside from nothing graphic, obviously.) I know most people in animal rps are interested in their characters finding mates and maybe having pups/kits/whatevers, but there doesn't seem to be anything here for that. Is there a territory to go to? A form to fill out with the parents' statistics and the staff picks how many pups/kits/whatevers and what they look like? The last one is how it's worked on sites I've been a part of.
-Altering the inter-species language barriers. If we had only four species on the site, I think having each one have a different language would be doable. But with so few members (currently) and so MANY species, it becomes pretty unwieldy. (If we had only 20 species, we'd have to have 40 characters just for everyone to have someone to rp with, for instance, unless everyone used the same species.) I'm having to pick and choose much more carefully who my characters can rp with from an already limited pool of active members. Additionally, I have sort of a logical block about it: how could the Royals of a territory rule if they only know a handful of the languages of their people?
So, it seemed like maybe languages could be by territory rather than by species. Maybe each character starts off typically knowing the language common to their territory and one other? And/or maybe some species are slightly better at picking up languages, and could start with two others (like birds, which travel a lot, or foxes, which are just supposed to be clever)? And the creatures in the "rogue" territories might have a broader knowledge of the languages, since they've traveled around many of the Kingdoms.
I think that about covers it. All that nitpicking aside, I really love where this place is going. (And somebody make a Northern character to rp with my lynx!)
