... let's see if predator can get along with prey. Once again, Ghalzan found himself stepping on soil that was not his own. He was neglecting his own small territory as of late, though with good reason; he had no food, and no water. The sun's vicious rays had done a marvelous job of turning his land into nothing more than a dust bowl. With hunger and thirst gnawing at him, Ghalzan once again cursed the Easterners for banishing him to this godforsaken desert.
"Might as well just kill m'self now and save the sun the trouble..." he growled, flicking a rust-tinted tail at the cloud of flies buzzing about his rump. His normally bright and alert gold eyes were now tired and desperate, a feeling he loathed. But even he, Ghalzan the Great, knew when nature had the upper hoof. And right now, he wanted nothing more than a sip of water and a nibble of grass. Anything to chase away the empty feeling in his stomach and the taste of sand on his tongue.
In this simplest of terms, this sucks. A lot. he thought wearily to himself, his lazily placed hooves creating small poofs of dust every time they came in contact with the dry earth. Taking a wheezing breath, the bulky beast came to a complete halt, his head now high in the air with interest.
"Oh? So I'm not the only creature idiot enough to try and survive out here..." he murmured, nostrils flaring. "Mm. Wildcat. I doubt I'd want to deal with one of those right now."
Blinking, Ghalzan cheerfully began stepping forward, the alarm bells going off in his mind blissfully ignored. A crazed grin began playing at the corners of his mouth as his legs moved forward against his decision to stay away from the predator lurking just out of sight. Like I said, might as well save the sun the trouble.
Soon enough, Ghalzan caught sight of the big cat... which turned out to be not as big as he had thought. It was a very odd-looking cheetah, and she seemed quite preoccupied with her own thoughts. Slowing his pace, Ghalzan contemplated turning back one last time. But considering he wasn't exactly in the best state of mind, he dismissed turning back without a second thought.
Clearing his throat, the brutish stallion let a sleazy smirk make its way across his lips, making sure he kept just enough distance between himself and the she-cat.
"Well hello there, miss. Lovely morning, hm?"

these days, peace was as rare as hens teeth - would it somehow rip the world in all of it's entirely into half for her to.just.have.some.time.alone, was it so hard to understand the concept, as simple as it was? each time she truly felt at ease another dumb idiot would rear it's ugly head, interrupting what would have been a rest with their own stupidity and pathetic notions of friendship. had they no concept of peace? did they have no manners, and in this case, no damn natural instincts that would make them avoid her, not seek her out had they both been mere herbivores - not apex predator and foolish hoofed prey. though it was simply staggering the amount of idiots who sought her out for company, knowing full well that they were practically natural enemies; though those cases were truly those who's unfortunate dim minds couldn't be remedied no matter the effort. It had became something of a regular occurrence now, she would be at peace, when some blundering fool would interrupt her, she supposed it was something she would have to get used to eventually; the company of others.
she glared toward the approaching mammal; the ink-like tear trails upon her face helping to reduce the glare that the newly risen sun brought. her small head was hung below shoulder level in a broadside stance; her foreshortened face arranging itself into it's familiar, almost mocking grin. she churred a staccato high pitch growl, before hissing violently in warning toward the mammal. as it grew closer her ears spared no time in flattening and her teeth in baring; displaying her considerably small set of ivory canines in a lucid threat.
light boned, swaybacked, with long and thin legs that looked as if they might have snapped at the slightest pressure..she may not have clearly looked the most resilient and powerful, especially next to the more visibly muscled and heightened equine. Though beneath her golden hide there did kindle a fragment of strength and sheer force, and her teeth and claws..well they were laced with a firm threat.
if this ridiculous creature had any semblance of self preservation she would advise it to turn tail and run back to the hell hole it crawled out of..but of course, self preservation was scarce these days, she honestly wouldn't be surprised if it wished to linger behind and contemplate the weather with her like a complete idiot.
"quite" she spat viciously, her solo spoken word dripping with unhidden venom. she didn't like the creature, and she certainly wasn't going to pretend she did like it.

It took quite a bit to suppress a maniacal laugh from erupting from his throat. Ah, how the venom in the cat's voice made his skin crawl! What an exhilarating feeling, to be just steps away from an apex predator! He prevented a laugh from escaping, but there was no erasing the crooked, disturbingly out-of-place grin from plastering itself on his lips.
"Ah, I'm glad I am not the only one who can appreciate a nice sunrise." he chuckled, his voice unnaturally level. Any other creature, including himself, would have fled by now. But it's safe to say that Ghalzan's mental state at the time wasn't what you would consider stable. Then again, nobody could really say for sure if he would have continued this charade or not even if he had been of sound mind.
Regardless, the massive stud continued to chat away, all the while keeping his hooves glued to the ground they had come to a halt upon. Any closer to the cheetah and he was guaranteed to be dead, and he had enough wits about him to know that much. But it seemed everything else, including his instincts, had absolutely no affect on him.
"Forgive me if I seem forward, but I have a question for you." he stated, his previous grin beginning to fade as he started to regain some self-control. Not enough to tell him to turn tail and gallop as fast as his hulking body would allow, though.
"You wouldn't happen to know where there is some water, would you? And perhaps some food an equine like me could eat? You see, I'm in need of both, and clearly quite desperate."
The funniest part had to be that he was basically asking for help from an archenemy. He was breaking every law of nature as he continued to almost lazily hover around the cheetah, and it was this knowledge that sent yet another little thrill through him.
How fitting for someone such as myself to begin rewriting the laws of nature...

>> Tumai There was no manner of comfort to be found in the desert, the now dry heat had squeezed any traces of moisture from the air greedily with as little regard to it's inhabitants as possible. The atmosphere that surrounded them felt tense, laced with a pure undiluted threat that was born from her own anger and instincts; for each bone that she bore just itched and cried aloud, begging her with all the persuasion it could muster to leap at the equine.
She could easily chase the beast, it was what her kind was made for, though bringing the equine down would be a completely different story, and not nearly as effortless and simple as she would have preferred. those hind legs were sure to deliver a fine kick, and it was probably capable of a nasty bite too..but it was nothing in comparison to her; she was a predator, he was prey. The fates would especially be in her favours if the equine did speak of truth; if it truly was in need of water and food then it would only make the hunt easier. Despite appearances, and to the great disappointment of every single fiber in her body - she didn't intent to eat the equine. attacking a fellow southerner would be a folly, the population had to preserved, not decreased by meaningless acts. instead she'd warn it, dangle it between her paws like cat and mouse.
With slow and deliberate movements her agile figure sauntered across the terra, prowling in a circuit around the equine in some timeless dance of old. A quick inhale and the hot air rushed into her lungs, dry and moisture less as it filled them to the very brim. She let the scent of the equine linger within her nasal passages, almost tasting it with each and every fibre that it dared passed. She inhaled the scent as if it were the most delicious meal, which in all honesty, it probably was.
The felines voice was pure velvet as she purred her reply, a sickly sweet hymn of sarcasm, still intently circling the poor beast. the dust rose behind her in a thin cloud, rising in a haze before settling once more upon the dry ground.
"perhaps i do, but you see.." a cruel, menacing grin warped the features of the feline, thin white whiskers rising to encompass the smile; to frame it elegantly like a piece of living art. her tone was more coy and sarcastic than anything else, but the threat that it hid was still barely audible. "..a lady never reveals her secrets." she revealed with a flourish, pausing her smooth saunter before the equine.
