(Image found on Google, reference image only, copyrights to it's respective owner.) Desiderata Though I had never been one to want to go and greet others, I decided I had best go and meet my Lord. After all, it was smarter to actually know the one you live under than to be like a ghost wandering through the lands. So steeling my unrest at greeting another, I stepped out of my previous shelter beneath the huge spread of an oak and into a silver patch of moonlight. My snow white pelt seemed to glow under the touch of the moon’s rays. I was frankly surprised I was still alive with a coat as stark as mine. I started toward the Blackpine Meadows, my slender pillars carrying my weight with little left over marks of my passing. On constant alert however, I was moving a bit quicker than I’d have liked. Forcing myself to slow down I took in my surroundings. Oaks, Pines, Birch, and so many others that I couldn’t name. I smiled as I heard a snapping twig, I came to a stop instantly and my head shot up as I looked around. Had a wolf spotted me? For a small instance, I was frozen in place, perhaps it wouldn’t see me if I just stayed still. A few moments later, I heard another twig snap, far behind and to my left. Letting my breath out in a soft sigh, I continued on my way to the meadows. I stopped just briefly to munch on some leaves and then I continued to the trees’ edge. There I stopped and caught a breath, stretched before me was the meadows, and all the silver grace of the moon lit it up. I smiled, this was indeed a lovely place. Stepping into the meadows from the sheltering arms of the trees I let my eyes drift around, scanning for possible movements indicating my Lord’s presence. I looked Heavenward for a moment and closed my eyes. “Wherever you are my darling Prince, I hope you’re better off than I.” I spoke aloud to no one in particular, save for the ghostly memory of my fawn. Then I opened my eyes once more and continued scanning the meadows. I took a deep breath of the air and scented, far off however, an incoming thunderstorm. My best guess was it would reach us the next morning. As I looked to my left again I thought I’d spotted a quick movement and then settled my gaze upon that side. Was my Lord present? I tilted my head a little and waited. Words~Approximately 452 before coding Muse~Relatively good Speaking Listening Thinking and Speaking thoughts aloud to no one in particular

It was a fine spring night, the moon casting a veil of silver over everything it managed to touch. Despite the fact that summer was just around the corner, there was quite the unusual chill in the air. A light mist swirled around the countless tree trunks, making the whole forest and everything in it seem like a spectral figment of the imagination.
The same held true for the hulking frame of a woodland caribou silently picking his way through the trees and vegetation. It was quite odd that a creature of his size could meander around the labyrinth of oaks and pines with such ease, let alone the fact that his cloven hooves made barely a sound as he strode onward. But this was probably because he knew these trees better than anyone, as he wasn't just an average passer-by; he was Balthazar, Ruler of the East.
Snorting quietly, his breath condensing in a cloud before his muzzle, Balthazar came to an awkward halt. Flicking an ear absent-mindedly, he stood motionless in the mist for some time before his gruff voice broke the silence. "Best be on my way... the Guards are probably wondering where I am by now." he sighed, then strode forward once more in his peculiar gait. He had a large stride, though age and many battles over the years had caused a slight limp in his front left leg. Still, there was still an air of grace to his movement.
Balthazar couldn't help but find humor in his own way of getting about. Clearly not as young as I once was. he noted, carefully stepping over a decaying log. Inhaling the fresh but chilled air, the caribou stopped dead in his tracks.
Company at this time of night? he thought, muzzle still in the air as he attempted to pinpoint the direction of the other creature's scent. From what he could tell, this unknown other was not of his specific dwelling, but a resident of the East. Another cervine as well, but definitely not caribou, and a female. "Hmm. I s'pose I'll go and greet her myself... the night patrols are much less likely to give her a warm welcome." he said quietly to himself, breaking into a brisk jog.
Within moments, he caught sight of the doe; her completely white pelt was hard to miss in the bright silver light. She stood motionless in the clearing ahead of him, head tilted, as she clearly waited for the arrival of some creature... likely his. Waiting for me now, hm? he thought, kindness glimmering in his eyes... or his left eye, at least. The grey film of blindness over his right eye remained emotionless.
He strode directly into the clearing, his great antlered head bowed so as not to get caught in the low hanging pine branches above his head. He quickly lifted his head again as he came to a halt, his gaze directly upon the doe before him.
"Fine evening, isn't it? Though a bit more chilly than I expected." he said quietly, his words ending with an amiable chuckle.

I saw the other creature and smiled a little to myself. That was definitely my Lord. The way he carried himself showed the truth of that fact. As he drew closer to me I dipped my head a little in respect as he spoke. Fine evening, isn’t it? Though a bit more chilly than I expected. I caught the soft chuckle at the end of his words and smiled again as I answered. “Indeed. Greetings my Lord, I am Desiderata, Desi for short. I figured I might as well get used to my new home, as I have only recently arrived here.” I told him and fell silent as I raised my head from its respectful dip.
I took the chance then to actually view the great Eastern Lord. Well poised and looking quite strong. A different breed of deer than I, but a deer never the less. The moonlight gleamed strangely upon his right eye; perhaps a bit of blindness taking hold. As he had walked toward me, I had also noticed his limp, my own was not quite so visible as his. All in all, I had a feeling I would get quite used to life living under his command. I looked away then, to take a good look at the meadows. Surrounded by trees and quite open, I had a feeling there would be much beauty come summer.
As my eyes drifted over the land, I spotted a few others, but they looked extremely busy, perhaps a guard force, they moved as if it were so. I breathed in the chill air and then looked heavenward again. “You would have enjoyed this place my young prince. I wish you could be here to see it with me.” Then catching myself I looked away from my Lord and half mumbled an apology. “Excuse me my Lord, sometimes I just become that way.” If I had been able to blush I no doubt would have, I had just spoken aloud to my recently deceased fawn, right in front of the Lord of the Eastern lands. How embarrassing. But I was not too worried that he would view me as an oddity. I looked back to him, though my head remained slightly lower.

Balthazar listened in polite silence as the white doe introduced herself, her words accompanied by the usual dip of the head. The bulky caribou still had yet to accept such formalities when meeting others, though to be perfectly honest... he never thought he sincerely would. He might have the title of 'King of the Wood', but he still viewed himself like any other deer roaming the forest.
"Pleased to meet you, Desiderata - excuse me, Desi. And welcome to the Emerald Forest as well." he responded, a friendly smile upon his features.
In the silence that followed, Balthazar was acutely aware of the doe inspecting him, though whether in judgment or just to get a better look at him he never knew. He could tell that she had also noticed his filmy grey right eye, which had had carelessly forgotten to conceal. Turning his head ever so slightly, the blinded and scarred right half of his face was immediately bathed in shadow. If there was one thing he couldn't stand, it was others seeing his greatest regret... letting himself loose half his sight in battle.
"Courtesy of a hawk's talons." her murmured bluntly, turning his head away every farther into shadow. But as he did, his good eye caught sight of Desi gazing around the large clearing. Balthazar allowed her to do so, keeping silent.
Just as he was about to speak again, the doe looked skyward and seemed to speak to the star-scattered expanse. Turning to Desi with curiosity, his question was soon answered with her reply. He could quite easily tell that she was embarrassed.
A sympathetic glimmer in his eye, Balthazar added his own response. "It's alright, no need to apologize..." he began, dipping his head slightly. "Forgive me for asking, but... to whom were you speaking to?" he finally finished, his voice unusually quiet.

My auds flicked toward my Lord as he spoke in response to my introduction. Pleased to meet you, Desiderata - excuse me, Desi. And welcome to the Emerald Forest as well. I saw out the corner of my eye as he turned his blind eye away from me. I took note of the fact that it seemed he did not like others noticing it and made a point that next time I talked with him I would not really look at the damaged eye. My auds flicked toward him again as he spoke once more. Courtesy of a hawk’s talons. I could only imagine that feeling.
I nodded in understanding. Then, almost as soon as my apology slipped out, he responded to my slight embarrassment It's alright, no need to apologize... I met his good eye as he dipped his head ever so slightly lower and continued, Forgive me for asking, but... to whom were you speaking to? I was quiet a while as the silence of the meadow embraced us and then with a soft sigh I answered him. “About six months ago, when I still lived in the old oaks of my original homeland, I had a fawn, a fawn that I knew would have become a strong buck…” I paused and shook my head a little before continuing,
“but he never had the chance to grow. So soon after his birth his life was taken by a wolf pack. I knew they would get him, as we ran, I stumbled and twisted my left foreleg, he kept going. I never even named him. So every so often, a moment will come up that I wish I could have shared with him a moment that I know could never be his.” I lapsed into silence then as a soft breeze twisted past my side and a small shutter escaped from me. I half smiled, I liked to think that that touch was my son running past me on his way to a game. I looked to my Lord and gave him a soft smile. “I think I shall enjoy it here.” I told him and fell silent again.
