If not fewer species, then a new system to perhaps not split them up so much? The thought is, intercharacter relations will be too difficult with the current setup. Such as, finding a mate for your character. With so many species, and then territories to split even the kindred species up, there could be alot of division making it hard to smoothly plot together. This is a just a future concern, at the moment, but I do see it becoming a problem.
Blue is... well she's gone. I haven't been able to get in contact with her, as much as I've tried. So, right now, it's just up to you guys and myself. I want to make a change to the system, but I'm not really sure what the right thing to do would be. Obviously we can't just chop out a ton of the species, then it just wouldn't be Evergreen anymore. What do you guys think would be the best new system/setup/species list?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
I mean, I do think the many divisions on the site are problematic. At the moment, each of my characters is the only one of their kind, which gets lonely and feels odd. I think the kingdoms are central to the plot, such as it is, unless a different plot is in the offing. So, I guess there: are we willing to change the plot? If so, to what? It could be one that is divided more along species lines, but that feels a little like it's been done... Perhaps something along the lines of carnivores and herbivores/omnivores? Could be an interesting power imbalance that is then righted (somewhat) through the plot. Gives a bit more OOMPH to the multi-species thing if your characters think another character might actually eat them, and lots of potential for drama (stories like YOU EATED MY MOM!!! I WILL HAVE VENGEANCE!!!!!). Both the current plot or a new one could work, though. I think it's just a matter of how it's handled. At any rate, doing away with kingdoms entirely would be a bit odd.
Now, for species: There are many options we could go with, and I think some of them depend on what we decide about plot. If we stick with the kingdoms as is, then we should definitely pare it down some, while still leaving more options than any other site has.
It seems like the primary categories we have on the site are: Feline Canine Equine Avian Reptilian Mustelidae (weasels, otters, ferrets, martens) Cervidae (if we don't want to put deer etc. in equine)
Maybe we could still allow all those animal families, but have only 4 or so allowable species in each one? That still provides a LOT of possibilities, and people could save up points and buy other species in the store. Current creatures would be grandfathered in, and/or people would be allowed to change their charries's species without any application process to one of the more common ones.
Actually, that might not be a bad system even if we change the plot.
The other option would be significantly widening which species could pair up with which, but I feel like there's still a conceptual gap--I mean, you can SAY a horse and a deer can mate, but that still doesn't FEEL like they're interacting with other members of their species, you know?
